Week 2 of 52

Aaron Duran

Booster.jpgYour friendly neighborhood Geek here with the report from the DC Universe front-line.

Booster Gold pays a visit to the creator of the Metal Men in order to find out what went wrong with his cash-cow robot: Skeets.

Renee Montoya continues her downward spiral, possibly being "saved" by The Question.

Ralph Dibny spares his own life in order to solve the mystery of the defacement of his wife’s tomb... By an inverted Kryptonian symbol!

Finally… Doc Magnus talks to T.O Morrow and learns of a new Red Tornado… Red Inferno!

So far, 52 is turning out to be a very fun and strong series. In a way, this series is the perfect way for new readers to turn onto the DC Universe. Sure, there is a lot going on and it helps to have some knowledge of the DC Universe. However, this series is focusing on the B and C list characters, and that is the best way for new readers to become pulled into this fantasy world. Everyone knows who Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are... They’ve got no clue who T.O. Morrow is...

Speaking of which... It was so very great to see T.O. Morrow painted in a new light. Watching him have a conversation with Doc Magnus was pretty damn great. I know some people are annoyed at the current handling of Montoya. Now, I've said it once and I’ll say it again. Renee Montoya is one of the most "real" three-dimensional characters in the DC Universe and Rucka is writing her correctly. Keep it up man. Finally... and I know this will get me crucified by my fellow JLI readers but... I can’t wait until Booster Gold takes a bath. I am not a fan. I’ve never been a fan... He just annoys me. I sense his days are numbered...
