Con Report - Parto Quatro

KaraokeFanboy

And just like that...(imagine Kevin Spacey blowing into his hand)...it's gone. While these past five days seem like a months' worth of pop culture exposure, the weekend has ended as quickly as it began. Still, its effects will ripple well into next year. A few quick notes about the last panels I attended:

SmallvilleFull.jpg

During the Smallville panel on Saturday night, creators Mlies Millar and Alfred Gough introduced Laura Vandervoot as next season's Supergirl, and actors Phil Morris (Martian Manhunter) and Justin Hartley (Green Arrow) revealed that the Justice League will return next season, as well. To celebrate, DC Direct will release a new wave of Smallville figures in the real life Leaguers' likenesses.

(Is it just me, or is the Smallville "universe" actually making more sense than the currect DC "Universe"? So sad... - AD)

Afterward, in the Warren Ellis panel, Avatar Press, currently publishing Ellis' Doktor Sleepless and Black Summer series, revealed that their website will feature a free on-line Ellis authored comic series starting next year. During the panel, Ellis jonesed for a smoke and lit up right there in the Convention Hall, a no-no here in the States. Brits - still, no respect.

Finally, here's a quick montage of but a small part of my swag. The CW Smallville burlap bag, the Paramount Pictures Iron Man and Trek T-shirts, the Bongo Futurama mini-comic teasing the series return to TV... Maybe I didn't need to spend $200 on comics and toys after all! Watching the G4 "live from the Con" specials now, as I write, I'm already nostalgic... if the Con builds anticipation for anything, it's next year's show!

(Again, I simply must give thanks to Russ aka KaraokeFanboy for his fantastic work at Comic Con. The event is draining enough without a shemp in Portland telling you to send him costant updates! Be sure to check out A Comic A Day as he recounts the previous year... A good and insightful read... Next year, I'll be there and the drinks are on me! - AD)
