Reverse Speech is the controversial hypothesis that has been pioneered by David John Oates and on October 29 he will be in Portland to demonstrate what has been called the “Demon haunted Sentence” of the unconscious mind. Oates' hypothesis is that on average, once every 15-20 seconds of casual conversation, a person conveys two related sentences, only the forward message we can hear consciously. The second message is embedded backwards unconsciously into the person's speech. In rehearsed and public speeches, backward messages only occur every 60 – 90 seconds. These two modes of speech, forward and backward, are dependent upon each other and form an integral part of human communication.
Many people are familiar with music that allegedly has backwards Satanic Messages hidden in the tracks. David John Oates claims that while there are intentional tracks that are reversed in music there are also audible and understandable backwards messages in all speech spoken or sung.
Oates has appeared on late night talk shows like, Coast-to-Coast AM and Ground Zero radio. He has also appeared on Geraldo and the Leeza Gibbons show.
