Geek Week June 6th - 12th - Update

Aaron Duran

All kinds of fun going on this week, so get your lame butt out of the basement and see the world!

Ground Zero Lounge with Clyde Lewis and Dr. Larry Johns - Tuesday, June 7th at 7:30 at Dante’s on SW 3rd and Burnside. As always, expect a rowdy time as Lewis and Johns talk of the news and trends of the world. Try to imagine NPR Morning Edition...but at night...with fire...and drinks. And, as a special event, the Portland Tribune will be interviewing Dr. Johns about his excellent book, Love and Hate, a poetic journey into the rise and fall of Haight-Ashbury. Be there!

Captured by Robots - Playing this Wednesday at the Ash Street Saloon. After checking out their web site, I can say without hesitation that your friendly neighborhood Geek will be there. Not sure if I will survive the night, but I’ll be there.

Art Etcetera Auction - Bossanova Lounge, 722 East Burnside, Portland
Sunday, June 12, 2005, 2 - 5 p.m. The Art Etcetera Auction will benefit Mary Catherine Lamb, the well-loved Portland quilt artist who last year was diagnosed with breast cancer. Happily, she has completed her long regimen of treatment and her prognosis is good. But medical bills not covered by her insurance, added to the costs associated with a layoff from her day job as a copy editor, have prompted friends and colleagues - The Tribe of Mary Catherine - to rally and plan this event. Hope to see you there!

Tim Riley Media - All week Tim Riley proudy presents the premiere of an outstanding reality show."Man About Town." This program will take you to Portland's Hot spots. You'll meet A-List celebrities as we peel back the curtain and expose the long forbidden lifestles of the Stumptown's V.I.P.'s. This episode filmed last night at Jenn Lane's Bar Fly Magazine Birthday Bash features Rick Emerson, the very lovely Sarah Dylan who (makes some stunning comments she's held back from making in the past regarding certain places of employment), Clyde Lewis, Tim Riley, and a fellow who sings dressed up as a hotdog. Watch it here... Man About Town.
