Insanity on the Move…

Aaron Duran

Last year, a few days before Halloween, I learned that Raymond and all the wacky psychos behind the 13th Door were packing it in. Not that they weren’t enjoying themselves and making a living in the fickle industry of professional haunts. Oh no, they were leaving by a force more insidious than thousands of shambling undead… Mall Management. Yes, Washington Square Cinemas, the one time home of the 13th Door was going down. Thankfully, Raymond and crew moved to calmer seas and opened a fantastic mini-golf course right in downtown Portland. (You can read about it here). Yet, it was as if a small part of my dark Samhain heart was gone. No more screaming mental patients. No more wire-frame beds from real Asylums. No more shrieks from wanna’ be tough guys trying to look cool for their ladies.

Or so I thought. With an evil gleam in his eye, Raymond informed me that the 13th Door would yet again rear its horrific head and frighten the masses again in 2007. Moving to the Washington County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro, Or. Its door forever closed to protect the public from the devilish insanity within, the 13th Door was shut, locked, and packed for transport… Never to been seen again. Alas, like all good villains, it is hard to keep the darkness within the 13th Door at bay. No one knows what horrendous accident caused the 13Th Door to re-open, as no one has lived to tell the tale… Are you brave enough to explore the defiled cargo containers and rooms within the 13th Door? I know I am.

Please check out www.13thdoor.com for pricing and direction details.

And no, I don’t get any kickback from these guys. (Yes, I get asked every time I write about them). I’m just a big fan and love all the hard work they put into their event.
