WHAT TO DO IN PORTLAND
Part 2 of 2 - A New Game in Town Diana from DT
When I first heard about Guardian Games' new location, I contemplated comparisons of this great shop rising like a Firestorm Phoenix, despite the lack of fire damage to the old site. After walking into the great brick building at 315 SE 3rd Ave., I found my mind turning to the Three Little Pigs instead. Yes, the East wind did huff and puff, and the house of sticks did fall.

But now, Guardian Games has found a new home - one that the winds will not tumble... On Friday, at 3:00 pm, Guardian Games opened their double doors to their new location, and I was eagerly waiting to get in. Walking in takes you past racks of computer games and into the main card area. Cases are carefully lined with a stunning array of Magic The Gathering cards. Taller cases are full of well-painted mini's, old school ADnD box sets, Star War Collectibles, which will make any good geek slather. In the game room center, the walls are lined with old school Arcade Games and LAN hook ups for WoW, Halo, or Evercrack! Angel proudly tells this reporter that Guardian Games has the fastest gaming computer system and the most gaming space in the Portland area. Tournament play takes place on the former Euphoria stage, which was once graced by the likes of Ike and Tina Turner, and Weezer.

Angel and Michelle began Guardian Games on SE Foster Road in October, 2005. They have provided a unique and welcoming atmosphere - and that has transferred easily to this new location. They are willing and able to discuss any aspect of gaming, and their staff is equally well-versed. I asked about a Fledgling Dragon, which turned out to be from the Judgement expansion series, (I couldn't remember which one.) Zakk found it for me with a very small amount of checking - within a couple of moments, I had the card in my hand.

Okay...now for the hard facts.

I am very glad to see that Angel and Michelle and all the gang made it through a terrific storm and are making a new beginning. I'm always glad to see geeky gaming girls taking their love and sharing it with others. On the selfish side, the new location is much more centrally located - I'm certain that I'll be popping in on my way home from work. I highly recommend that you gamers drop in and check out Portland's newest gaming center.
