Root for the Villain!

Aaron Duran

Looking for something to do this fine upcoming weekend in the City of Roses? Well, while your friendly neighborhood Geek will be pulling his hair out trying not to screw up the lighting for the first official Nicodemus video, you can relax and have some fun at the picture house.

Not just any picture house though; oh no, you will want to check out this weekends crop of celluloid fun at the grand Hollywood Theatre. The Hollywood Theatre is one of the last Vaudeville era Grind Houses. She may look a little rough, but her old shine is yet again beginning to show due to the hard work of the Oregon Film & Video Foundation and all the outstanding volunteers who work on her. The tickets are cheap. The popcorn is fresh (not to mention tasty). The flicks are top notch, and unlike most other theatres, many are locally produced.

Like the locally produced hit show – Villains!

Villains2.png
Villains is the first episodic program to be developed in Portland for internet television. This four part episodic series is an action/fantasy show that asks the question, “Why should the good guy always win?”

The world premiere of this show will be held at the Hollywood Theatre, showing all four original episodes. Shot in Portland and Wilsonville, Villains already has a fan base from Iceland, Denmark, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Canada, Australia and Taiwan

The premiere takes place on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the (where else) Hollywood Theatre.

Show times are 7pm and 9pm – Tickets are $10.00.

You can check out Gypsy Films, the creators of Villains, at their website at www.gypsyfilms.com!.

Tune in next time where we will learn if a Geek becomes terminated…or finds Sanctuary... (First person to email me with the reference earns a sweet and secret prize).
