The 48 Hour Film Festival Begins Aaron Duran
Slightly bummed that I would miss the fun and intense festival for the second year in a row I was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from fellow film freak (and Lord of Bond trivia) Sigfried Seeliger. "Dude, you want to sign up for being tortured and yelled at all weekend? Oh, and shoot a little movie while we're at it?" Never being one to pass up on a torturous weekend of Mini DV fun I signed onboard as yet another member of the rag-tag film fugitives known as the Dirty Rejects...
In 48 Hours, These ‘Rejects’ Will Write, Shoot & Chop a Short Film. Portland is gearing up for its second installment of the 48 Hours Film Festival, August 5th through the 7th. One of the 26+ groups participating is The Dirty Rejects. This rag-tag team is the brainchild of the groups Director, Sigfried Seeliger. Along for the ride with Seeliger currently are Craig M. Johnson (Northwest’s only PGL* top 250 director), Sam Garr (Cinematographer), Jeremiah Rickert (Screenwriter), Molly Craytor (Makeup), Dan Ayers (Camera), Brad Spradlin (Sound) and the Geek In The City, Aaron Duran (Asst. Director). The Dirty Rejects have assembled an all-star cast with Jefferson L. Davis, Katie O’Grady, Angela Nicole Babb, Yani Berkshire, Crystal Starlight and Susan Moen. Even renowned musician/composer Cal Scott is involved providing the musical score.
This group has the simple task of making a short film in 48 hours. When Friday, August 5th comes, The Dirty Rejects will pull a genre from random. Once they have the genre, they are given a prop, a line of dialogue and a character name that they have to use in their film. On top of that, the team has to write, shoot, edit and turn it in by August 7th at 7:30pm. No problem. In return for all their hard work, their short will screen with the other participants on Saturday, August 13th at the The Hollywood Theatre.

Once I recover (which I am guessing will be sometime around noon on Monday) I'll get back to writing about Star Trek, Zombies, and how Hot Topic has become Hot Johnny...
