They’ve Cast Dr. McCoy Aaron Duran
JJ Abrams and the folks at Paramount have locked in their Dr. Leonard H. McCoy for the Star Trek 11 / Star Trek: Reboot. I'm still neutral on the entire project, although my gut is shifting to the "meh" side of the spectrum. Some of the casting has been interesting (the Heroes guy as Spock) and even inspired (Simon Pegg as Scotty).
However, Karl Urban as Dr. McCoy leaves this Trek fan a bit stale. He is a good enough actor when the script is strong with good direction… i.e. LotR versus Pathfinder. That being said, he just seems to lack the Southern charm Kelley brought to the Enterprise’s Chief Medical Officer. Honestly, I was really pulling for Gary Sinise. Oh well.
