Toy Fair Report - Indy 4 to Star Wars!

Aaron Duran

Greetings programs, your friendly neighborhood Geek here with a message from Dan of the Joker phone! He has the very enviable job of writing for Figures.com, a job that sends him to New York this fine weekend to get a taste of what us Geeks are gonna' drop our money on. Thanks to Dan and the folks at Figures.com you too can get a small taste. Little warning, many of these figures could, by default, be "spoiler" in nature...

Well, not him. If you don't know about the Jovitan Fertility Idol by now, leave my site!

For the rest. Carry on...

First, how cute is this Mola Rom? Come on, he even comes with his own little sacrificial heart... So he won't have to rip out yours! (Attention gift buyers, Aaron would like his own little Mola Rom, how could he not)?

Seems like Indiana Jones is finally getting the massive Hasbro push. While that means our pocketbooks are gonna' be extra thin this summer, it will finally give us our own Sala action figure... At least one that doesn't suck! (I'm already planning on having my Sala work with Gimili in an epic tale).

Is this the temple housing the Crystal Skull?

Indy-Temple-Small.jpg

Sweet, The Ark! Dan reports that The Ark is only available if you mail in a grip of UPCs from previously purchased Indiana Jones figures and vehicles. Like the original Sgt. Slaughter. I love the smell of 1985!

Star Trek break! While there are a ton of Trek toys planned for 2008. I wanted to give a shout out to all my Mego dawgs in the Final Frontier and give you this little slice of retro love!

Mego-Star-Trek-Small.jpg

Onto a galaxy far, far away... And this year it is all about the Expanded Universe. (Although I don't think they are calling it that anymore). Anyway, look for a massive push with Clone Wars and Force Unleashed figures, as well as more store exclusive items.

Babies first Rancor, how cute.

Looks like the books and Dark Horse Comics series are getting some action figure love as well... Kneel before Thrawn!

Thrawn-Small.jpg

From the Dark Horse Comics, Star Wars: Legacy comes the first action figure release. Cade Skywalker and the hottest damn Sith of all time, Darth Talon! (Come on, just give in to your inner fanboy on that one, you know it to be true).

Again, many thanks to Dan (promise, we'll get our bio up ASAP) and everyone at Figures.com for allowing Geek in the City to post some tantalizing toys!
