GET OUT OF THE BASEMENT
What To Do Without Getting Wet Aaron Duran
Early September tends to mark the beginning of your friendly neighbor Geeks favorite time of the year. I love autumn and with the exception of Christmas, of which I am still a softy for, it contains my favorite holiday. Course that holiday is still more then a month away, but that doesn’t mean you fine readers can’t start having Fall fun this weekend! (I know, it’s not even Fall yet, cut me some slack will ‘ya).
And now for something completely different, in Portland, this weekend... Not ready for summer to end and the rains begin? Fine, The Laurelhurst Theatre has just the thing for those who want to watch some strange flicks will sipping beer and chowing on good pizza.
The Found Footage Festival.
The Found Footage Festival is a live comedy event and screening featuring odd and hilarious clips from videotapes found at thrift stores and garage sales and in warehouses and Dumpsters throughout the country. Curators Geoff Haas, Joe Pickett and/or Nick Prueher host each screening and provide their unique observations and commentary on these found video obscurities. From the curiously-produced industrial training video to the forsaken home movie donated to Goodwill, the Found Footage Festival resurrects these forgotten treasures and serves them up in an entertaining 90-minute celebration of all things found.
The FFF is a non-profit arts group and the presentation of the FFF is for the purposes of entertainment only!
It plays Saturday, September 10 at 9:45 pm. Tickets are $7.00.
Be there, I know I will!
Or...
You can skip the whole movie part and get down with pure drunken fun at the Horse Brass Pub as they host a Portland Farkers party! If you don't know what FARK is, then, hell, if you're at this site you know what FARK is and you know what a Farker party is like. Starts at 6pm Saturday, September 10 at the Horse Brass Pub. Duke sucks.
