2007 HAUNTS
Zombies, Vampyres, and Sweet Transvestites! Aaron Duran
This is it, the last 2007 Haunts posting for, um, well, 2007. (Ugh, that was a weak opener. What do you expect? This is one of the busiest times of the year for El Geeko Guapo). Anyway, if you got in all your partying in the previous weekend and simply cannot subject your liver to a mid-week pounding, then I have a couple of horrific shows to give you your Halloween fix.
At the Clinton Street Theater in SE Portland you can take part in the nations longest running midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show! I know, midnight Rocky shows have become a tad cliché, but you gotta' have a little local pride and support the folks at the Clinton Street Theater and the Clinton Street Cabaret for maintaining a tradition that long. (Especially when you consider the majority of the performers weren't even alive when Rocky first hit the screens). Admission is $8.00 at the door, better arrive early!
Course, if transsexual mad scientists are a bit much for your palate, you can head on over to the Misson Theater and take in the 1922 masterpiece; Nosferatu. As an enhancement to F. W. Murnau's genius work, the Eugene based musical group Mood Area 52 will provide musical accompaniment. A bizarre mix of neo-cabaret and tango music from the 1920s and 30s. Mood Area 52 brings an all-new level to the cinematic experience. Doors open at 8:00 pm and since the Mission Theater is a bar (and the OLCC is the real devil) this is a 21 and over only event.
Finally... If you want to check out some disturbing news on the Zombie War front, pop on over to Falcon Rock Command. Watch. Learn. Survive.
Hope everyone enjoyed Geek in the City's 2007 haunts. It will be back next year. Bigger. Scarier. Nerdier!
/End of Line.
